Back to School
It is 12:45 Pacific Time ,Overcast and 33f.
Sessybeth went back to school on Thursday. I miss her already! She was away studying in Paris all fall ( awwh) and is transitioning back to Barnard after a wonderfully long holiday break. She ( and her friend Darcy) are in RA training now over the weekend. It is an intense course designed for every catastropy known to college students and the rest of us poor slobbo's too! They cover everything from overdosing on alcohol and drugs, to bulemia and roomate problems and the myriad of difficult life setbacks that folks face in these modern times.
Please say a little prayer for Sessy and Darcy as they plow through their strenuous training.
I am sick to my tummy and have had a bad headache for 3 days. According to the CDC. stomach flu is a myth. How can a myth hurt so much.? Does anyone have a good remedy? I must go back to work on Tuesday. So I need a help soon.
So far I am enjoying organic applesauce, rice cakes and chicken rice soup, Blue Sky organic orange soda, camomile tea with honey and water. Rice cakes are ok, at least easy to digest but I long to put peanut butter on them. So far I have delayed any thought of castor oil. I know Aunt Betty talks about it sometimes speaking of the ole days.
Here is a remedy collected by the CDC in rural Mississippi. What NOT to do or ( say with twangy southern accent) "Hows yer mama n them?"
Case 2. A 46-year-old woman who had completed 7 years of education reported using castor oil routinely as a laxative and to treat "colds." She purchased castor oil at a discount department store, kept it readily available in her home, and had used castor oil and acetaminophen to treat a cold in her 18-month-old grandchild. She fed the child 1 teaspoon of castor oil mixed with one half of a baby bottle of orange juice. The symptoms resolved. She also reported using aloe, asafetida, catnip, garlic, lemon, and turpentine as remedies during the preceding year and recalled previous use of briar root, chinaberry, corn shucks, and pine as remedies.
Survey says!

This is a photo of our Aunt Edythe (Aunt Ooha to us) at Escambia Bay,FL. This is the Penscacola Bay. This photo was probably taken between 1915 and 1920? Everyone thinks this looks like B.Claire. Do you think they had any skim milk around? I think she had plenty of Grandmother Isabelle's oyster stew! Zoot alors!

The Life Aquatic or Team Zissou Fever
This is a movie for film buffs, not blockbuster lovers. If you like films that are zany and silly and have action, adventure, wry charactor development, great sets,a Portuguese folk singer, romance and animated sea life, then this is your picture show.
Elizabeth is home from college and has been wanting to go and see the film (again)
We saw this film last night and I was not prepared for what to expect. We munched on a gallon of popcorn (our dinner) and tried to understand the premise of the film . After the first few minutes I was totally involved in the adventures of Team Zissou. A former SNL comedy king, having a great time, showboating in film.
It was fantastic. I wondered if he misses John B?
Team Zissou is my team now. I am ordering little beanies and speedo's for Warren and me, plus nice correspondence stock. I have a new nick name for Jaq, it should be Cubby. See the movie. Don't forget I was raised by maids.

Family Fun at Christmas Time and a Nick Name Project
It was a white Christmas driving up to the Honey House with all the girls on Friday night. I was thinking that God is good, not only were we to have all the girls together during the Christmas season but it was snowing too.
Nothing like having everyone over for break-fuss, lunch and dinner for several days. You really get close. Sometimes you get silly, sometimes you get crazy. Girls just wanna have fun! Poor dad.
We bought Ashley a ticket to ride up from TUS and we were in business.
Saturday was the family photo. Pink is our signature color, so even Lady wore pink, poor dad.
One of the the highlights was the 12th Night Party. Our Pastor BJ came early to bless us all as we relit the Family Candle! I had a deeply sweet feeling during our blessing time. Everyone brought the most srcuptious food! We are wishing for the recipes!
All the girls were in rare best form. They were the perfect hostesses; gentle ladies filled with grace and charm. Taking coats, getting drinks, smiling and being lovely. ( Warren and I were sooo proud) If only they could be like that all the time. (sigh)
Ashey rocked as my charming co- hostess with the mostess and all the boys had a crush on her cause she's so beautiful. ( well actually we think they enjoyed her witty(smart alec) remarks most of all) Beth entertained them with her stories of Paris and her views on grad school. May oui! oo lala et zoot alors, sacre blue et lipropet!!!
Lauren became the efficent and lovely door greeter, coat taker and food placer! I could not keep up with her! She even delivered phone messages. Luckily she did not have to miss the birthday party, as later dad drove her over to the spend the night party. Way to go dad! Always driving someone, somewhere.
Jacqueline was the pied pipper of children and fun activities up on the landing filled with toys, cars, care bears and curtains to hide under and drag up and down the stairs and such. It was roudy but the kids had a really good time.
Everyone had a grand ole time. Thank you ladies.
One of the "highs" of the day was the way we all helped each other. Dad and Jaq spent hours on her project, Claire and Beth spent hours on Ashley's project. We went to the mall for Lauren for her project (shopping) and in this way helped Jaq by leaving her alone with dad to have peace and quiet to work. Man, they worked on that project so long! All day I think, thanks dad. Will you teach me how to do an outline too? You are the best dad.We are so good to each other.
Later after present opening we had fun talking about our nicknames.
We have some great nicknames among us. Angel,Princepessa, Sessy and Skwwig. huh? who is that??? We really don't want to call her le cougre do we???? so I thought of Skwwig.
(sweet kool wonderfully wacky inteligent gal.) I will never tell you all the nicknames I had as a kid but some of them have stuck. Uncle Joe always calls me Ida.(get it?)
OK, so if you don't like this one,Skwwig for Jaq, then think of a really good one and you will win the Nickname Project prize! The Prize TBA.
Gunner and Pip say g'nite Angel , Sessy,Princepessa and Skwigg and Lady the pooh. Good nite moon , good night Jon boy! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
